Anthony Mayer with Digital Springboard participants

Why did you become a Digital Springboard delivery partner?

It’s always been very important to me to be able to give back to my local community and share some of the key technology solutions that have helped my business to grow. Digital Springboard combines my love of technology and business.

What are your community’s needs, and how does Digital Springboard help?

Digital capacity is lacking in regional areas, where perhaps it has the greatest potential to increase success. With great digital skills global businesses can be run from anywhere in the world. Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley (where I grew up, in a little town called Yinnar) are packed with talent that just needs a little help to thrive.

I’ve been delivering Digital Springboard courses at the VRI which is a beautiful community hub in Traralgon, and Reactivate, Morwell’s groundbreaking co-working space. The teams behind both locations are amazing advocates for community growth. I’m planning more workshops across Gippsland in 2020.

The people in my courses include side-preneurs, people working in a job that they are hoping to leave and people who are running businesses already and are looking for growth.

Which courses, and why?

It’s no surprise that the courses I’ve chosen fall into the skills to start or boost your business categories.

Social media strategy, Writing for social media and Measuring success with Google Analytics (all from the “Skills to boost your career or business” category) are all excellent courses for business owners looking for growth.

At the beginning of this year I delivered the three part series Skills for starting your own business. It provided such great value to the participants that I’m running it again in November and December, which is great timing for people in my community who are dreaming about making 2020 their year of business success.

The people I always love working with the most are the ones who come reluctantly thinking that they can’t do “it”, and that “it” can be anything from starting their own business to using social media. Often their technical skills are already there and they get a huge boost in confidence from taking part in the course and realising how competent they really are.
